Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discuss implementation of agreements.

The implementation of the agreements and agreements signed at the end of the Turkmen-Uzbek negotiations at the highest level was discussed during the 15th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which was held today in Ashgabat. The venue was the hotel "Archabil".

The Turkmen side at the talks was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Esenmurad Orazgeldyev, the Uzbek side was headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Achilbai Ramatov.

According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, at the meeting, the parties identified priority areas for adding interests. In the context of the course on intensifying trade and economic cooperation, an agreement was reached to continue work on increasing mutual trade turnover. In particular, the parties agreed to continue work on increasing exports of products manufactured in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, including textile, silk, oil and gas, chemical products, agricultural machinery and cars.

 Aspects of bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and transit were discussed, including the simplification of customs procedures. The parties discussed the process of implementing the provisions of the Agreement on the establishment of the international transport and transit corridor Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Oman.

Also, the meeting participants outlined vectors for enhancing cooperation in the fields of education, science, sports and tourism. The importance of the participation of representatives of the two countries in international conferences and exhibitions organized in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was emphasized.

In accordance with the joint Protocol signed at the end of the meeting, representatives of various ministries and sectoral departments of Turkmenistan, together with partners from Uzbekistan, outlined concrete steps for the development of bilateral partnership. In particular, in order to intensify business contacts and cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached on holding a Turkmen-Uzbek business council in the first half of 2020.
